Foundation Music School (FMS) is a nonprofit community music school dedicated to student-centered learning, adaptive music education, and whole-person musicianship. Position Overview

We are seeking a private percussion instructor beginning June 2, 2025, to teach 8-12 students per week in the summer, with potential for expansion in the fall. This role is ideal for an educator who values a responsive, student-focused approach and enjoys tailoring lessons to individual learning styles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging and adaptive private instruction that fosters both technical growth and musical   curiosity.
  • Collaborate with students to develop their musicianship through technique, rhythm, creativity, and  exploration.
  • Maintain clear communication with students and families, ensuring a supportive and structured learning experience.
  • Contribute to the FMS teaching community, sharing ideas and approaches with fellow instructors.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Teaching hours: 3:00 - 7:00 PM (Monday-Friday), with some earlier availability in summer if desired.
  • Lesson structure: 45-minute private lessons in summer, transitioning to 30-minute lessons in Fall/Spring.
  • Compensation: $27.00-$30.00 per hour, based on education and experience.

Qualifications

  • A musician-educator with at least a Bachelor’s degree in music (performance, pedagogy, education, or therapy) or equivalent experience.

Compensation
