Foundation Music School (FMS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to dynamic, student-centered music education. Our approach balances technical skill-building with creative exploration, ensuring that students develop confidence, musicianship, and a lasting love of music. At FMS, educators are encouraged to adapt their teaching to the unique needs of their students, creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences in both private and group settings.

Position Overview

We are seeking a private and group piano instructor beginning August 11, 2025, to teach 20-30 private students per week, with opportunities to lead group classes starting Spring 2026. This position is well-suited for an instructor who values both structure and creativity in music education.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality private instruction in piano, adapting to students’ individual goals and learning styles.
• Potential to lead 1 group class per week (starting Spring 2026), following an FMS-provided curriculum while bringing your own teaching style

• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting students in their growth as musicians.
• Maintain clear communication with families and collaborate with fellow educators.

Schedule & Compensation

• Teaching hours: 3:00 - 7:00 PM (Monday-Friday), with some earlier availability in summer if desired.
• Lesson structure: 30-minute lessons in Fall/Spring; 45-minute lessons in Summer.
• Group classes: 60 minutes per class, with 5-6 students per session (assistant provided for larger groups).
• Compensation: $27.00-$30.00 per hour, based on education and experience.

Who We’re Looking For

• A musician-educator with a Bachelor’s degree in music (pedagogy, performance, education, or therapy) orequivalent experience.
• A dynamic, student-focused teacher who balances technical instruction with creativity and exploration.
• A team player who values both independent teaching and collaboration with the broader FMS faculty.
