Kelly McCallum, MM
Kelly is the founder of Foundation Music School and serves as Vice-President of the Board. She started Foundation Music School in 2006 because of her passion for wanting to provide high-quality music opportunities to those in her community. Kelly impacted many students by teaching Family Music, Music Makers, Group Keyboard Classes, Private Lessons and providing music therapy services at FMS before re-locating to the Chicago area.
Karen Parsell, MM, MT-BC
Karen is a life-long musician and is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and young adults with diverse needs. She has over 30 years of experience working with individuals and groups in a variety of settings. In addition to being director of Foundation Music School, Karen leads group and individual therapy sessions, teaches adaptive piano, and coordinates the music therapy services for Poudre School District Early Childhood Program.
Nicole Wilshusen, MM, MT-BC
Nicole Wilshusen received her Bachelor and Master of music degrees from Colorado State University. As a music therapist, Nicole has worked with a variety of individuals ranging from early childhood through older adults. Nicole also has over 10 years experience teaching private and group piano lessons, having students of various ages and abilities. In addition to being the assistant director at Foundation Music School, Nicole teaches Family Music classes, private piano lessons, adaptive piano lessons and is a Music Therapist in the Poudre School District Early Childhood Program.
Ji Hye Chung, MM
Ji Hye is a graduate student at Colorado State University, studying in violin performance and pedagogy. She recently finished her first Master’s degree in violin performance from University of Colorado at Boulder, and received her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Vanderbilt University. She enjoys making music, teaching individuals to play violin and sharing music with others. She believes music has so much power, that it needs to be around us at all times. Ji Hye is currently a member of the Zinnia String Quartet, Fort Collins Symphony and Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.
Kris Lund, MM, MT-BC
Kris is a Graduate Student in the Music Therapy program at Colorado State University and has a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Montana. She joined Foundation Music School in the Spring of 2012. Kris has been teaching private lessons in piano for 16 years and loves to inspire a love of music in students of all ages and abilities.
Mai Linh Nguyen, BM
Mai Linh loves to inspire others with passion for music. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Music Therapy at Colorado State University. She received her Bachelor of Music from California State University Northridge and has had 9 years of piano teaching experience. Besides school and work, she has shared her music through volunteering for UC Irvine Medical Center’s Music to Heal program and leading worship at church.
Jesse Pierson, MM
Jesse recently completed coursework for a Doctorate degree in piano performance with a secondary emphasis in music theory at the University of Northern Colorado. Through the pursuit of his education, Jesse has traveled around the United States and Germany to perform, study, and teach. Currently, at Foundation Music School, Jesse coordinates group piano classes and teaches private piano lessons. Jesse is also an active member of the Music Teacher’s National Association, where he has presented his research on a local, state, and national level.
Dani Schlueter, MM, MT-BC
Dani received her Bachelor’s in K-12 Music Education from Wartburg College and her Master’s of Music in Music Therapy from Colorado State University. She has also worked locally as a direct service provider for adults and kids with developmental disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dani is a Music Therapist at Foundation Music School, in the Poudre School District Early Childhood Program, and with the Senior Beats older adults program. She also directs the Melody Makers Voice Class and teaches private voice lessons.
Crystal Malinski, MM, MT-BC
Crystal is a Board-Certified Music Therapist and Registered Suzuki Violin Instructor with over 13 years of experience sharing the gift of music with children of all ages and abilities in a variety of settings. Crystal holds a Master’s Degree in Music specializing in Music Therapy from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northern Arizona University. Crystal currently teaches violin at Foundation Music School and is a Music Therapist in the Poudre School District Early Childhood Program.
Karmen Mitchell, MM, MT-BC
Karmen enjoys sharing her love of music with others, including those with special needs. She has 10 years of experience working with children of all ages and abilities in various music settings. Karmen received her Master’s of Music specializing in Music Therapy from Colorado State University, a Bachelor’s in Music Education and Violin Performance from Eastern Washington University, and is a Board Certified Music Therapist. At Foundation Music School, Karmen leads music therapy sessions, teaches violin lessons and family music classes, facilitates a drum circle for kids, and is a Music Therapist for the Poudre School District Early Childhood program.
Kara Shobe, MM, MT-BC
Kara enjoys sharing her love for music with individuals of all ages and abilities. She graduated from Northern Colorado with a Bachelors of Music Performance degree with an emphasis in Voice and Flute. She received her Masters in Music Therapy at Colorado State. Currently at Foundation Music School, Kara teaches Family Music Classes and works Music Therapist in the Poudre School District Early Childhood Program.
André Short, BM
André T. Short recently graduated with a bachelor’s of music in piano performance from Colorado State University. His ventures as a pianist have taken him around the United States and abroad to study, compete, and perform. He enjoys teaching at Foundation Music School and investing in the personal and musical growth of his students.
